Re: Re: 'Hitler's Scientists' by John Cornwell

Hi Marvin,

Unfortunately, I don't know who Kenneth Mount is either, other than that he says he lives in White Plains, NY.  He's like your "correspondent" Jim Hoerner, who I saw was in your John Cornwell list, and I removed him prior to my distribution.   You've seen how abusive Hoerner has been to me.  I don't understand why you find him worthy of emails from you.  You are only feeding information to people who will abuse other activists with that information.  Perhaps if you studied what Kenneth Mount did, and compared it to what Jim Hoerner and others have done to me (and to others), you'd see this, and understand its extreme significance to this movement.  There is a Nuclear Mafia which works to abuse activists to the point where they will give up.  We have to fight this, most of all.  Nothing else will get done until we can have an honest public debate without fear of such abuse.

As to not sending you information about him, it can be very difficult to isolate who gets what, and you can be sure that if he crosses your path, he will abuse you as he did me.  My letter is one way to fight back against the harassment of the Nuclear Mafia -- namely, by exposing them and showing how abusive they really are.  (See the link at the bottom of that email, called HE CALLS ME UNAMERICAN, for a discussion of the Nuclear Mafia.)

Wasted Death was just the title I gave that document -- there's no book by that name as far as I can recall ever hearing.  Kinda catchy, though, isn't it?

Your reason the pools are filling is interesting, but recall that originally those pools were supposed to be for TEMPORARY storage -- there is no way they were designed to last the whole design life of the reactor.  I could have gone on about reracking and re-reracking, too, but then the article would have been much, much longer!

Sincerely,

Dear Russell,
First I accidentally made up a list and have been sending a lot
of emails all around without knowing that I was sending to a list. I
shall wipe the erroneous list from my address book and my apologies if
you got some 'mushy' emails.
Second I am sorry to hear some idiot is harassing you.  Who is
Kenneth Mount? Please do not forward any emails on that subject. I really
do not need to know  who Kenneth Mount is.
I shall look up Wasted Death one of these days, but my friends
finally got me an Xmas present that I appreciate: books, so I am involved
right now.
Third you answered Mitzi pretty good. I respectfully add that the
reason that the nukes have space problems is that NPPs produced a lot
more waste than the licensees figured. That is because the fuel burnup
was a lot poorer than estimated. If the fuel had performed anywhere near
what was promised, there would have been adequate (lotsa) space in the
fuel pools.

Hi Marvin,

John Cornwell was on CSPAN2 the other day (a replay of an October, 2003 presentation in Pasadena), and ended his comments with about 10 minutes about nuclear wastelands and some of the people who stood up against the nuclear holocaust, such as PUGWASH, founded by Manhattan-Project scientist Dr. Rotblat.

Below is a document I thought you might find interesting, especially in the context of Mr. Cornwell's book, with links to additional related documents.  It refers to the abusive tactics of the Nuclear Mafia.  (If anyone wants the full series, with its abusive 4-letter words and all, please send me an email.)

Sincerely,

Dear Friends,
Hitler's Scientists covers a small, but important part of the
Nazi story. The most knowledgeable and effective people in Nazi Germany
were a few scientists. They existed on all sides of the nazi spectrum
from hating National Socialism to promoting it unabashedly for a thousand
and one reasons. Mr Cornwell attempts to report some of those reasons. He
does a very readable job and places much of the history of German
technology in perspective.
Don't expect to know everything about German science from one 600
page book. You won't be able to read it all at one siting. There are a
few interesting pictures, but it isn't a picture book. The main
attraction for this book is that it is a really worthwhile read.
And it does go into the so called justification for a preemptive
war.
